The following are significant development achieved within the last three years after the accreditation visit in March, 1996.  More details on these developments are addressed further in the six recommendations.

  • Establishment of Interim School Community Based Education (SCBE).
  • Water storage projects had been completed.
  • Installation of Internets/Computers in twenty-two classrooms.
  • Establishment of School Based Nutrition and Physical Education Partnership (SNAPP).
  • Hired additional teacher to reduce student ratio in the first grade classrooms.
  • Establishment of Parent Center.
  • Implementation of entrance age requirement for Kindergarten.
  • Implementation of Language Arts Standards / Benchmarks.
  • Implementation of a new reading program - Signatures.
  • Availability of a new reading program - Signatures.
  • Assessment of students using literacy portfolios.
  • Assessment of students for their reading levels.
  • Completion of four new classrooms, BLDG. E.
  • New roof replacement of Bldg. F.
  • New roof / ceiling replacement of Bldg. C.
  • Installation of three air conditioning units for Bldg. B.
  • Privatization of School Breakfast and Lunch program.
  • Installation of two air conditioning units in Cafeteria.
  • Repair / replace storage and cabinets in Cafeteria.
  • Resurfacing of concrete roof of Bldg. A.
  • Re-routing traffic for student "safety zone" before and after school.
  • Upgrading of existing fire alarm system.
  • Paving parking lot in front of Bldg. K.
  • Increased student enrollment.
  • Major budget cuts.
  • Major staff turnover.
  • Discontinuation of substitute teacher program.
  • Active involvement and participation of PTA in Budget appropriations,
  • fundraisings, and safety issues of the school.
