Wind Generators The Green Energy project grant is part of a US Department of Energy Funded ARRA project in cooperation with the CNMI Dept of Energy. It provides for six (6) wind generators and 160 solar panels installed on the school campus with 10 additional smaller projects installed at neighboring schools. This is the first of its kind for a school in the CNMI and will set the pace for renewable energy for schools in the Pacific.

Swim for Life PoolThe SSHS Swim for Life Pool project is another Grant project award funded through the Northern Marianas Housing Corporation (NMHC) in cooperation with the federal Department of Housing and Urban Development. The pool is also slated to be a green energy pool with the latest in green technology including solor pumps and wide array of efficiency equipment.

Little About Us

Saipan Southern High School opened its doors in August of 2002. It is the newest high school in the CNMI and has a population of 850 students which is expected to increase in 2011 to well over 1000 students.It is fully Accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC). It is now in the second phase of its renewable energy program as a Green Energy school.

Although our target goal is a Green Energy program, the school is also themed in Fine arts and Technology. Home to the Award winning "Manta Band" and programs such as the Microsoft Technologies Laboratory, The Center for the Study of Higher Mathematics, The Center for Nursing Assistantship, Gold Star JROTC program and more...
